Office Extended Pack
Cumulus offers built-in support for creating searchable metadata from text included in files created by Microsoft Office, Apple iWork, and Open Office.
Finding a Word doc, Keynote presentation, or Open Office spreadsheet based on the text they contain is a core feature of all Cumulus 8 editions. The Office Extended Pack takes this power to the next level, by offering capabilities far more advanced.
For Presentations: PowerPoint & Keynote
The Office Extended Pack offers vastly extended functionality for Presentations.
For both PowerPoint and Keynote, easily deconstruct presentations into individual slides, each with its own metadata—no matter how many presentations your organization manages, you’ll be able to find individual slides based on simple text searching.
Configure output job options for PowerPoint and let users create new presentations from menu options. PowerPoint isn’t required, and presentations can even be cataloged or created via the Web.
PowerPoint users have even greater functionality:
- Create new presentations from cataloged slides and images—Even embed custom layouts and backgrounds into the new presentations.
- Work within PowerPoint—Access cataloged files from a PowerPoint menu option, so you don’t need to hunt through a file server for what you need.
- PowerPoint isn’t required to catalog or create new presentations, but if it’s available, Cumulus can use it to generate high quality thumbnails of individual slides.
Because Keynote can open and save files saved in PowerPoint format, many of the advanced options available for PowerPoint users can be accessible to Keynote users too!
Image Support
In PowerPoint, link cataloged images to slides that reference them—find all slides that reference an image, and find all images linked to a presentation.
Images inside iWork files can be cataloged into their own asset records inside Cumulus, so you can add per-image metadata, and easily see which images a file uses.
Images inside Open Document files can be cataloged into their own asset records, so you can add per-image metadata, and easily see which images are used by your Open Document files. To make identification and searching easier inside Cumulus, the names you give images inside Open Office are the same names Cumulus uses for them too.
Outlook
The Office Extended pack also integrates with Microsoft Outlook. Easily catalog any Outlook message, and Cumulus automatically extracts attachments into separate, linked asset records. Plus, the email text is searchable, offering you a shared archive of email.
