The QXP Extended Pack and QXP Companion add-on products bridge the gap between QuarkXPress and professional digital asset management using Cumulus. They should be considered “standard equipment” for all Cumulus/Quark work groups.

QXP Extended Pack

The QXP Extended Pack works inside Cumulus to deconstruct QuarkXPress 6.x layout pages into individual asset records, each with its own metadata. This enables you to add any per-page information you need, such as approval controls and license information.

All the text in your layouts can be automatically extracted into searchable metadata, so when you search for text, you find the layout page its on—not just the layout file.

As an added bonus, you can catalog HELIOS XPV files, offering you direct access to the metadata (and high quality thumbnails) provided by the HELIOS ImageServer.

There’s no tighter integration available between QuarkXPress and a professional DAM system than QXP Companion. Using a menu inside QuarkXPress, users can access Cumulus catalogs and their entire asset libraries, all without ever launching another application! Searching for files is easy, and drag and drop makes file placements easy. Once a layout is complete, cataloging it back to Cumulus is a simple menu option, and you can eve have Cumulus create a PDF of your layout on the fly—perfect for easy approvals!

QXP Companion

The QXP Companion includes all the features of the QXP Extended Pack, but adds additional functionality. QXP Companion is compatible with QuarkXPress versions 7 and 8. QXP Companion adds a menu and palette right inside QuarkXPress, so layout artists can find anything they need, without ever leaving QuarkXPress.

Designers can drag and drop Cumulus cataloged files right into layouts, and completed layouts can be cataloged into Cumulus directly. You can even have Cumulus create a PDF version of the layout on the fly—perfect for easy approvals.

When new or edited layouts are cataloged, Cumulus automatically catalogs all images included on layouts, so your Cumulus catalogs stay current, with minimal manual effort. Plus, when it’s time to send layouts off to the printer, gathering all included assets is easier than ever.
