New capabilities in Cumulus include:

Multilingual Metadata Support
Metadata can be entered in multiple languages, making a single catalog accessible to the entire planet. Configure Cumulus so that users see only the languages they understand, and make several or all languages available to translators.

Trigger workflow steps based on user actions
Users can select menu options or check boxes to tell Cumulus what needs to happen next. Notifications are sent, permissions are changed, and metadata is updated according to rules you define.

Departmental User Management
Deputize sub-admins to manage users and permissions for their own departments. Spare the Cumulus administrator from having to personally manage systems for massive installations, without giving up system-wide control.

Edit metadata and upload files from Cumulus Sites
Canto’s popular Web interface now support two-way workflows. Permitted users can upload new files and edit the metadata of existing files, all from the Cumulus Sites interface.

Multi-lingual Category Tree
Provide category names that are localized, and appear in the correct language for each user.

Massive Metadata Catalogs
Cumulus catalogs can each store as much as 1TB (terabyte) of metadata. This means you can capture massive thumbnail images for instant previews, capture the entire contents of Word and PowerPoint files into searchable metadata, record audio annotations for each asset, and much more. Index hundreds of thousands of files in a single catalog, and use as many catalogs as you want. (Note: 1TB refers to metadata only—your file collections can be as big as your storage media permits.)

Metadata Validation
Improve the quality of your metadata by making it easier for users to enter correct values. Select from provided validators, or create your own.

PDF output with embedded download links
Distribute entire catalogs or document suites in a single PDF file. Each thumbnail in the document provides a download link to the most recent version of the file it represents.

Community discussions
Drive traffic to your Sites installation by offering community discussions. Users can comment on files, and respond to one another’s posts. You see and moderate it all.

More complete details on all the latest features of Cumulus are available in the What’s New document.
