Overview of Cumulus Core Technical Information

Cumulus Core is the technological foundation upon which all Canto DAM-based products are built. It provides the DAM database services, network communications, user authentication methods, permissions controls and configuration/customization options that give Cumulus Core-based programs their reliability, power, speed and flexibility.

Metadata Engine (Database) The Metadata Processing Engine inside every Cumulus Core-based application is bred from the same award-winning stock that has kept Canto DAM applications in the lead from the start.
Search Options Cumulus Core applications can offer many different search options to users, from category double-clicks, to keyword look-ups, complex queries and more, Cumulus Core makes it all easy, fast and powerful.
Asset Relationship Tracking To enable users to find and organize assets based on inter-asset relationships, Cumulus Core features a revolutionary Canto-developed technology called AXR, or Asset Cross Referencing.
Filters, AssetStores & AssetProcessors The highly extensible nature of Cumulus Core comes from the use of modular technologies that enable Canto and third-party developers (including customers) to easily customize the way Cumulus Core-based applications work.
Templates, Sets, Queries & Actions Most of the user interface elements Cumulus Core serves to an application can be customized by the end user, without any programming knowledge, thanks to these sharable resources.
Version Control (Check out/in) Asset check in/out and version control can be made available in any Cumulus Core-based application, even those designed for use over the Web.
Permissions Permissions flexibility in Cumulus Core is second to none, going far beyond what any operating system can offer, and far beyond what most DAM systems offer.
Web Access Technologies Using Canto's Web Access Clients, your original digital assets are never made available on the Internet. They remain safely tucked inside your corporate network—behind RSA-encrypted user log-ins, behind your firewall, behind your Cumulus Server, and behind the native security of your asset file server.
Customization APIs The Cumulus Core APIs ensure that developers can extend applications to suit the needs of workflows. Support for Canto developers is made available through the Canto Developer Program, which all developers are encouraged to join.
