Search Options
Cumulus Core offers several ways in
which users can find assets. Thanks to the indexing used by
the system, most search results are returned within a moment
or two.

The three most common search
methods Cumulus Core offers are the QuickSearch tool (works like
a keyword-based Internet search engine); category double-clicks
(finds assets assigned to the selected categories); and the
Find Tool, which enables users to construct and share complex
queries that become accessible from a menu.
The three most common search options found in Cumulus Core applications are:
- Category Searching Double-clicking on a category
selection displays all assets assigned to the categories
in the selection. Options exist for also finding assets
assigned to categories above and below the selection in
the category hierarchy.
- QuickSearch Tool The QuickSearch Tool is a simple
text field into which users can enter search terms. Catalog
administrators determine which fields are considered during
the search. Options also exist for whole-word searching,
using which "taco" won't also find "Tacoma"
and "butter" won't also find "butterfly."
- Find Tool This tool enables users and catalog
administrators to build complex, multi-conditional search
queries that can be shared and selected via menu options.
Standard Boolean operators concatenate the conditions along
with metadata-specific modifiers such as "before"
or "after" for date fields, and "contains"
and "is" for text queries.
Cumulus Core's AXR (asset cross referencing) technology also
makes it possible to find assets based on their relationships
with others assets. By splitting the asset record view and
using
the Record Filter menu to select the type of relationship they want to see, users can find related assets just
by clicking on others.

The Find Tool's Advanced
Mode makes it possible to construct searches using text queries.
Queries can be loaded from disc, making it possible to use
external systems to construct and/or edit the queries. Here,
a simple search is shown in Advanced Mode with the Standard
Mode equivilant query visible as an inset. Time and date references enable you to construct queries that find yesterday, one hour ago, last week, and more.

The asset-relationships
tracking techology built into Cumulus Core applications enables
you to extract individual pages out of your PowerPoint presentations
upon cataloging. It even automatically links the referenced
files used on those slides. Here, the "Show Masters Only"
button is selected in the top pane, ensuring that only master
assets (like the presentation itself) are visible in that
pane. In the bottom pane, all "Contained Pages"
of the presentation are shown. The window could optionally
be split a third time to show all assets linked on each page.
