Cumulus 7.5 Released

The wait is over! Cumulus 7.5 is officially released and ready for download now to all customers with current service contracts.

In previous editions of eNews, we've hinted at upcoming features; but now we can take the wraps off entirely and give you a complete look into the features and benefits you'll enjoy in Cumulus 7.5.

Canto co-founder and chief technologist Thomas Schleu says Cumulus 7.5 "...further realizes the potential of many of the technologies introduced in Cumulus 7."

Canto Engineering has a well deserved reputation for responding to the needs of users, and this release is no exception according to Schleu: "We've been able to fulfill a number of user requests and enhance reliability and performance."

New to the Cumulus 7.5 native clients is a collection basket that makes the gathering, sorting and batch processing of assets easier. In addition, transparency saved with certain image formats is now rendered as a checkerboard pattern, as seen in the lower left of the image.

Some of the more popular user requests addressed in the release include:

Light table functionality — A Collection Basket is now in the native clients, offering users a place to collect and organize assets they want to access or process as a batch, or convert to a standard collection that can be saved and shared with others.

Hiding category tabs — Category tabs—including the "$All" tab—can now be hidden from certain users or groups. The determination of which tabs are visible is now a property of each category view set, making it easy to prevent users from seeing certain category hierarchies just by restricting their access to category view sets that contain them.

"Value-based" trigger actions — Catalog, category and asset record trigger actions can be configured to respond to specific field values instead of just general changes. Example: You can now configure the trigger to react to a Status field being set to "Delayed" instead of just being modified to any value.

Formula-based fields — Field values can now be determined by formulas. This is a very powerful new feature whose benefits go far beyond simple calculations. Look for upcoming Exploring documents that examine this new feature in depth.
