Canto Adobe Creative Suite Integration Described as "Killer App for DAM"

First announced back in June, Canto's forthcoming integration with Adobe CS3 has got Cumulus users worldwide on "email watch" for its release.

Among the many advantages the integration will offer, direct access to Cumulus catalogs right from within the Open and Save dialog boxes of CS3 applications like Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator is the visual that recent Cumulus Roadshow attendees remained focused on:

"This is bigger than huge," said one attendee, the IT director of a leading New York design firm. "This will resolve the single biggest obstacle to making DAM work: getting creative users to actually use it."

Another user simply described it as the "killer app DAM has been waiting for."

An informal poll of roadshow attendees found an overwhelming 97% saying this integration would be one they'd use.

"We told them about what was new in 7.5, and we even hinted at things to come in Cumulus 8," said Canto's David Diamond. "But once I mentioned the Adobe integration, we could have stopped the show there and focused on nothing else the rest of the day. This is something that virtually everyone wants."

In the image below, you can see the three category trees found in Cumulus Workgroup—Categories, Keywords and Sources—shown right inside the Open dialog box of Adobe Photoshop CS3. (All Cumulus Enterprise category trees would be visible too.) Each category shows any subcategories it contains, and also any asset records assigned to it.

Additional features include the ability to check files out and in, and to once and for all, be able to take advantage of your entire asset collections right from within the applications designers use most!
