2016 was an exciting year!
An exciting year is coming to an end and we are taking a look back. Ever since Canto was founded in 1990, digital asset management systems have evolved from basic media management software into enterprise platforms that integrate an entire ecosystem of software applications and processes.
Customers come first
Let’s start with who always comes first: our customers. During the past months we have not only introduced many new features that directly respond to customer requests, we have also invested a lot of time and energy into building and strengthening personal relationships with our community.
Face-to-face contact is still key when it comes to building trusted relationships. We know this and participated in a lot of events in 2016 – to meet our customers in person, talk with them and learn what’s most important for them. We were invited to speak once again this September at Europe’s largest trade fair for the digital industry, the DMEXCO in Cologne, Germany. We discovered many new ideas, got inspired and held insightful conversations.
Significant highlights for us were our Canto DAM Summits that took place in May in New York City and in September in Berlin (Germany). We were able to successfully establish the DAM Summits an in-person digital asset management conference for DAM newbies and veterans alike, offering a networking event for the entire DAM industry.
A summary of this year’s highlights would not be complete without the many new features that have made Cumulus an even more flexible and efficient enterprise platform for digital asset management.
Creatives and marketing executives greatly appreciate our new Cumulus InDesign Client we presented early in 2016 with Cumulus 10.1. The new InDesign Client for Cumulus enables users to store InDesign documents to their Cumulus catalog and insert Cumulus assets into InDesign layouts directly from within the Adobe InDesign user interface. In other words, the new InDesign client allows graphic designers to manage all Cumulus jobs directly in their Creative Suite.
Another important product enhancement of our digital asset management platform is the Media Delivery Cloud for Cumulus. This newly released enhancement adds a very reliable, high-performant global media delivery solution to Cumulus.
New technology partnerships
You may already know that we firmly believe in a best-of-breed approach. Each company has different needs and should have the opportunity to select the best tool for the job. We believe that Cumulus can meet very demanding DAM scenarios. To offer our customers a solution that goes beyond a perfectly configured DAM system, we work together with leading technology providers.
With BrandMaster we found a strong partner that extends the Cumulus functionality with high-end brand management capabilities. In addition, we have expanded our partnerships in the CMS world and designed interfaces to Sitecore and Episerver. We also expanded our collaboration with major digital agencies such as Init and Neofonie.
Just recently in early December, we unveiled new Cumulus Video connectors with Cumulus 10.2.2 that connect Cumulus with Brightcove, the leading service for professional video streaming.
The Canto community grows – and so does Canto
Of course looking back also means looking back at many exciting customer projects. At Canto we are convinced that digital asset management is not just software, but a platform that must be properly configured to enable enterprises to get the most out of their investment.
In 2016, we welcomed more than 150 new members to the Cumulus community. Phoenix Contact, manufacturer of over 60,000 innovative products and technologies related to electrical engineering and automation, relies on DAM solutions by Canto to manage important media assets for the global distribution of its products. Other new members in 2016 were Hoffman-La Roche, Tetra Pak and Hannover RE. We warmly welcome all new customers to the Canto community!
Longterm, sustainable relationships are important to us. It is our strong belief that a DAM system works best, if it is configured for optimal performance, well integrated into a company’s ecosystem and operated sustainably. Because we care for sustainability and integration, Canto promotes and supports social projects. This year we are supporting Let’s integrate! with our holiday campaign. Let’s integrate! is an organization that brings together refugees and locals in several German cities. We think this is a brilliant idea because good integration is often the key to success – not only in business software projects.
